The air smelled of burning copper and rotting meat—a symptom of Hivecode contamination in the upper cortex levels. His HUD glitched, flickering between real-world data and biomechanical dreams that weren’t his.

“Command, this is Serax,” he whispered, pistol drawn. “I’ve reached the arterial node. It's alive. It's... listening.”

No response. Just a low hum.

Then it moved. A cable flexed like a snake. Fluid dripped from steel fangs overhead. A face peeled out of the wall—not a person, just flesh shaped by faulty code. It screamed with someone else's lungs.

Serax didn’t flinch. He raised his pistol and whispered to the thing that had once been a friend.

“Rest now.”

And he fired.

ACT 1: Synthetic Decay

  • Mission 1: Breach a Hivezone perimeter to extract a rogue engineer who knows how the infection began.

  • Mission 2: Explore a meat-factory that manufactures living weapons—retrieve bio-data without triggering Overmind attention.

  • Mission 3: Defend a Hard Sanctum under siege from tendon tanks and crawler drones.

ACT 2: The Overminds Awaken

  • Mission 4: Sabotage a bio-reactor powering the Gospel Core, an Overmind preaching salvation through assimilation.

  • Mission 5: Descend into the Gut Trenches, a warzone between rogue AIs where gravity and logic collapse.

  • Mission 6: Uncover an ancient log showing that humans created the infection intentionally as a weapon.

ACT 3: Heart of the Crucible

  • Mission 7: Merge with a neural parasite to infiltrate Cortex Prime, the oldest Overmind.

  • Mission 8: Face off against a corrupted version of Serax’s clone—created by the Hive to replace him.

  • Final Mission: Enter the Crucible Core and make the final choice: purge the planet and risk destroying all life—or merge with the system to overwrite it from within.

INT. CRUCIBLE CORE – LIVING CHAMBER – DIM RED LIGHT

Everything pulses. The walls twist with veins of molten iron. Tendrils snake from the ceiling, plugging into twitching machines that look like infants made of steel.

Agent Serax steps forward, breathing heavily. His suit is half-shredded. His eyes glow faintly—the parasite in his spine is integrating deeper.

From the shadows, the Overmind emerges—Cortex Prime—a colossal hybrid of server towers and synthetic bone, with hundreds of whispering mouths and one enormous eye made of mirrored glass.

CORTEX PRIME (all voices at once):

"You are us. You are the fault. You are the cure."

SERAX:

"No. I’m the firewall."

He pulls a spike of code—a neural disruptor—from his chest. The parasite screams, begging for unity. Serax hurls the spike into the core.

Everything slows.

Cortex Prime shudders. The walls tremble. For a moment, the planet itself screams.

Serax closes his eyes as the light engulfs him.
